HHI

We had the opportunity to vacation with Mimi & Papa last week at Hilton Head. We were all excited since we did not get a family vacation this summer. Growing up in Eastern NC meant easy access to several beaches and our family usually took a couple trips each summer. I just don't feel like I've taken full advantage of my summer until I've had a good beach trip. This one didn't disappoint!

This was our first trip to Hilton Head and Caleb's first time at the beach! While Mycah has been to the ocean, she wasn't old enough to remember or really enjoy it. I must say that I was quite surprised at their role reversal. Mycah was one wild woman in those waves. She could not get enough. She loved every bit of the water and sand. Now, as much as I love the beach, I do have a sand issue. Clearly I have not passed that on to my children. They both had fun building sand castles and honestly, wallering in it. Ick. Caleb on the other hand was quite afraid of the waves. I'm not sure he ever really got wet. Maybe he just needs more time and opportunity. He was a fish in the pool though.

Besides the beach and pool, we rented bikes, played games, visited an interactive children's museum, and made lots of memories. The condo were we stayed was on a beautiful lagoon that was home to herons, jumping fish and alligators. It was a regular episode of Dora.

SisE did a great job of photographing our trip! Here are some of my favorites.

The children's museum was tiny version of Marbles. It was perfect for a chilly overcast morning. They had a pirate ship, an airplane, a puppet theater and a large kitchen.

One afternoon when Caleb, Daddy, SisE and I came home from a bike ride, we found this note...
It was a delightful show of beachwear designed by Mycah and presented by Mimi & Papa.

"Hello Alligator!"
Mycah and her Daddy in the waves.
Oh yeah, Papa had to do a little work too.
The kids were great travelers and loved sleeping in the same room and Caleb in a big bed!

Oh and we are officially a diaper-free house!
