Independence

Mycah and Caleb kicked off our 4th of July by riding their bikes in a children's parade. Nana, Grandad and Aunt Kim were waiting for us towards the end. As soon as Caleb saw them, he jumped off his bike and ran towards them. It was pretty hot. I don't blame him.

Then we went to the park to enjoy the festivities. Caleb only had eyes for the ice cream truck. That is, until he saw the playground equipment. All he did was play and play and play. He had no interest in lunch. Even when we got ice cream, he only had a few bites. This kid has a one track mind when it comes to playing outside.

Mycah enjoyed the swings, a hot dog, her ice cream sandwich and people watching with the rest of us.
We had hoped for more of a nap time considering all the exertion of the morning, not to mention the heat. But alas, they must have known it was a holiday or something. The afternoon passed with watermelon and playing with the family inside. We grilled burgers and indulged in SisE's fabulous Banana Pudding. The kids were very excited to watch the fireworks this year, but storms cancelled most of the area shows. So we pulled up an old NYC Macy's display on You Tube and put them to bed "early".
We hope you had a wonderful day celebrating all the freedoms we enjoy in our country!
