Words

The words are finally coming. We have moved from a firm point and grunt to words. Granted, it's still hard to discern many of them, but Mama's getting pretty good.

I went to get him out of the car at the grocery last week and he looked out and said, "Tree. Tall."

He is identifying more things everyday. In addition to his favs like ball, car, train, crayon, fireman, baseball, base bat (close enough), golf ball, he has also picked up on some of Mycah's favorite things. We got to the top of the steps this morning where Mycah had lined up her princess dolls. Caleb said, "Uh-oh, cincess." He knows the drama that unfolds if he messes with them. Sometimes he wisely avoids it. Sometimes he uses it to his own personal delight.

He also likes to say "broken", "uh-oh, sorry", "mess" and "stuck".

He does have a couple sentences like "Where are you?" (Done in a cute sing-song voice.) That's usually preceded by whatever he's looking for, like "Fireman, where are you?"

(Mycah took that one!)

And watching Dora is paying off. He uses "abre" and "open" interchangeably. And just today when I asked him a question he answered, "Si". OK then. I guess I'd better start paying attention to Dora too because I took French, not Spanish.

Totally precious. You can look at Caleb and KNOW something is going on inside the noggin, behind the dimples and under the curls. Amazing he knows the "Warning - danger ahead" sign associated with the "Cincess" time. Also interesting - but not totally amazing since he is, after all, a younger sibling - that he chooses at times to use it to his own delight. Don't you just wonder how that gets processed inside his Pentium i-7 to determine when to stay clear and when to plow through the warning signs?

Thanks for sharing (or should I say Muchas Gracias/Merci Beaucoup?)

I feel like I'm missing so much! We'll be there soon...tell him not to learn too much before Aunt Kim gets back to enjoy it. :-)
