The big reason SisE came this weekend was for a Triathlon, the
Ramblin' Rose. She did this Triathlon 2 years ago and loved it. She almost had me (Amy) talked into doing it with her last year, but someone-named Caleb-busted those plans. Now y'all, I have never so much as blinked in the direction of a triathlon. It is so outside my box. But I thought, if Liz can do it, so can I. So this year, to break me in gently, we decided to participate as a Relay Team. SisE did the 250-yd swim, I did the 9-mile bike and Kimberly did the 2-mile run. Team Sisters were so excited. We painted our nails sparkly for the race. (It's hard to tell in this picture.)

We had to leave really early Sunday morning to get there in time to set up and get our timing chip. It was one of those hurry up and wait things. We had to be set up in the transition area by 7:45 am, but we didn't start until 9:40 am. They start the swimmers in 10 sec. increments, but it still takes a while!

Tim gets a "Best Husband" award for this too. He got the kids up, fed, dressed (in super-cute and weather appropriate attire too) and out the door by himself by 9:00 am! Nice job. They were there to cheer us on!

Here I am approaching the transition area, almost done with my part.

Really, does it get any better? I can bike for that...or run or swim or whatever you want me to do. I mean, look at little buddy cheering!

Here's Kimberly crossing the finish line for us.

What an accomplishment!

This particular race was in Chapel Hill, but they announced a Ramblin' Rose in Raleigh next spring! I am totally motivated to do it...all myself this time. Let the training begin...

GO US!!
Mimi says.....
I bet you are soooo proud of your Mama! Could you give her another hug from me? Tell her that Mimi is thinking about doing the Raleigh Tri in 2010. Maybe Mama and SisE and Mimi can all do it. It would be like when we took our trip to Africa together....well, only then Mama wasn't a Mama and SisE wasn't a SisE and Mimi wasn't a Mimi...so I guess it's time for a new adventure!!! For now we will just be proud of your Mama! Please give Daddy and Caleb a hug too :)
