Vacation Part 2

Our vacation in the mountains: "Let me 'splain. No that is too much. Let me sum up." (Raise your hand if you got the reference.)
Uncle Gregg arranged for us to stay at a lovely and quite comfortable home in the Grandfather Golf and Country Club community. We had enough bedrooms for Nana & Granddaddy, Aunt Kim & Uncle Gregg, Mama & Daddy, Mycah and Caleb. That made for rather pleasant sleeping. There was plenty of room inside for playing. You could not see a road or another house from the deck. Perfect for one fortissimo singer and one squealer.
Caleb cut his 3rd tooth over the week, but handled it rather well. He's still cute as ever.

One may wonder why our daughter is wearing a tank top and shorts while her Aunt is in jeans and a sweater. Let's just chalk that up to the whims of a 2-year old. After all, that was a brand new outfit from Nana & Granddaddy. Must wear. Right now.
There was a small pond on the property that Mycah enjoyed exploring. She was particularly interested in the snails.

It rained quite a bit that week, but we took advantage of a slight clearing one afternoon to drive up Grandfather Mountain to check out the animals and cross the swinging bridge.

This bear was within the walled confines of the Grandfather Mountain Animal Habitat. However, Mama did see a young bear crossing the road just up from the house in the lovely golf community where we stayed. Umm, good thing it was the last day! Yikes indeed.

Yes, she's kissing the bear cub statue.

We did some fun vacation things, like allow Mycah to eat ice cream for dinner one night.

We also made homemade strawberry ice cream and strawberry shortcake with the fresh strawberries we managed to wrangle from Mycah.
And this one's for Sam.

We were able to see our friends Scott and Becky before they left again for Africa. We encourage you to check out their website and pray for their ministry. (Mama & Daddy and Ms Jenn & Mr Tim, of Sam & Charlotte, are on the board of directors.)
It was a sweet family time. Most of you know Uncle Gregg is a US Army Chaplain stationed in Fort Lewis, WA. This was our last visit with him before he deploys for Afghanistan in a few weeks. We were honored he chose to spend the last of his leave time with us. We'll give you updates and specific prayer requests throughout the year. The good news is that Aunt Kim will be coming home, and we finally get to meet Elliot.
